General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take effect across Europe from 25 May 2018. It replaces the existing law on data protection and gives individuals more rights and protection in how their personal data is used by organisations. Personal data is information about a living person which is capable of identifying them.
Parishes must comply with its requirements, just like any other charity or organisation. If charities are not compliant, they can face a fine of up to 4% of their turnover or €20m, whichever is larger.
On May 24th all your details MUST be deleted from all parish databases unless you fill in the attached consent form attached. THIS IS REQUIRED BY GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION LAW . I will have to delete EVERYTHING unless I get your consent to retain your name, address, email and phone numbers.
A few years ago I asked each parishioner to fill in their contact details for parish contact purposes but the attached form is now the required format from the RB (Church of Ireland central administration). If you wish to remain on the parish lists please fill in the attached and forward to me. This is really important, our legal duty as a parish and your cooperation would be hugely appreciated.
